Stainless Steel Care Instructions

All instructions, disclaimers and warranties stated herein apply to the entire order, it’s individual components, and/or to all products available for purchase through DentPS.com.  Use and/or purchase of DentPS products, constitutes agreement with the following recommendations and instructions.

MANUFACTURED FOR USE IN ANY STERILIZATION AND CLEANING PROCESS.

THIS ITEM CAN BE USED IN ULTRASONIC BATHS, THERMAL DISINFECTORS, CHEMICLAVES AND AUTOCLAVES.

PLEASE REFER TO THE INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED BY THE MANUFACTURER OF THE CLEANING/STERILIZING MACHINE YOU USE.

CLEANING:

  • After use, wipe the instruments before storing in the DentPS™ Stainless Steel holders.
  • Clean the DentPS™ Stainless Steel holders (and instruments) in enzymatic cleaner or potable water and with thermal disinfector manufacturers recommended solutions.
  • After cleaning, rinse thoroughly with distilled water to remove detergent and/or particles.
  • DentPS™ Stainless Steel products may be fitted with silicone inserts. These silicone inserts are also suitable for use with any decontamination, cleaning and sterilization process.
  • It is important to ensure complete drying before sterilization.

STERILIZATION:

  • Make sure that all debris has been removed from the products during cleaning.
  • Pack the Stainless Steel holders in sterilization pouches or surgical wraps.
  • Place the wrapped holders into a sterilizer ensuring you keep them slightly separated.
  • DentPS™ recommends that you do not exceed 350°F / 176°C during any process.
  • FOLLOW THE MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS FOR STERILIZER OPERATION.


RECOMMENDATIONS:

Water marks

Some brownish marks on sterilized products are often mistaken as rust. These brown marks are mainly located in places that are not easily accessible during cleaning and the rinsing process (hinges for example). You can prevent these marks by thoroughly rinsing with reverse osmosis or distilled water and ensuring they are completely dry prior to sterilization.

To avoid water marks on any Stainless Steel surface during sterilization, distilled water only should be used in the autoclave as this contains no dissolved solids. If any other type of water is used the solids dissolved in the water will be left behind as the instruments dry thus leaving marks on the instruments / holder.

Corrosion

If disinfecting and ultrasonic cleaning baths are used for too long a period between solution changes, the concentration of the solution is increased by evaporation. If the instruments are not properly rinsed, then during the sterilization process, these residues can burn and become brown.

Infrequently and only superficially a form of corrosion can be caused by contact with a strong acidic or caustic solution. This is usually the result of rust coming from some instruments of a lesser quality stainless steel.
